Pseudolymphoma syndrome revisited.

چکیده
Anticonvulsants have long been recognized as a cause of hypersensitivity reactions. Phenytoin hypersensitivity can be traced to 1916, when phenylethylhydantoin (phenytoin sodium), which was used to treat children with Sydenham chorea, was found to induce a hypersensitivity reaction. Phenytoin was then known as a “nerve sedative,” and the hypersensitivity reaction, “nirvanol sickness,” resolved on discontinuation of the hydantoin. 1 The constellation of systemic manifestations was first described as the Dilantin sensitivity syndrome in 1950. The syndrome was referred to as anticonvulsant hypersensitivity syndrome (AHS) in 1988, after its occurrence was found to be related to antiepileptic drugs other than phenytoin. Antiepileptic drugs have been implicated as etiologic agents for a variety of dermatologic eruptions, including allergic or leukocytoclastic vasculitis, StevensJohnson syndrome (erythema multiforme major), and toxic epidermal necrolysis. These dermatoses exhibit clear diagnostic features that differentiate them from AHS.

PENDRED\'S SYNDROME REVISITED
Pendred's syndrome is defined as a triad of congenital perceptive hearing loss, goiter, and abnormal perchlorate test. Three brothers with Pendred's syndrome [P.S.] are reported. A thyroid scan revealed euthyroid multinodular goiter and a perchlorate test was performed, and reported abno...

متن کاملDrug Induced of Cutaneous Pseudo- Lymphomas
Lymphoproliferative infiltrates could be seen in several skin diseases but they are very characteristic of cutaneous pseudolymphoma, which can mimic both clinically and histopathologically cutaneous malignant pseudolymphoma. A big problem for the clinicians is the differential diagnosis between cutaneous pseudolymphoma and malignant cutaneous lymphomas, as well as possibility for transformation...
متن کاملCutaneous pseudolymphoma of the breast
Cutaneous pseudolymphoma (PL) refers to a reactive T or B- cell proliferative disorder in reaction to some known or unknown stimuli. The most common site of involvement of pseudolymphoma is the face followed by the scalp. Because of its similarity with true lymphoma in both clinical and pathological aspects, differentiating between them is often difficult but fundamental due to their completely...

Due to fever, lymphadenopathy and rash, this condition has to be differentiated from viral infections especially infectious mononucleosis and also bacterial infections.
